De Lakens cares for nature Green Key Gold
At Camping de Lakens everyone enjoys nature amidst nature. To keep it that way, we do everything we can to align nature conservation and recreation. Our efforts considering sustainability were rewarded with a golden Green Key certification. This is the highest possible environmental recognition within the hospitality sector in the Netherlands. Something we are very proud off!
Together with our guests, we keep the area clean and undisturbed. We love to share our sustainable initiatives with the world. Do you have an idea for improvements? We are curious and love to hear it!
Electricity
We love to keep it peaceful and quiet around here, so we can enjoy nature's beauty. That's why our employees go on foot, by bike or in electric vehicles when crossing the terrain.
When you are visiting with an electric car, you can charge it on the parkinglot at one of the charging stations. This we we work together for less CO2 emissions. Are you here with an electric bike? This can also be charged at our camping!
Camping, now that's sustainable!
Everybody participates
How about all our waste? With the help of our camping guests we collect and seperate garbage. This way everything can be re-used or recycled. At the campsite we seperate residual waste, glass and paper. At the office we also work in a concious way, we print at a bare minimum and only invoice digitaly. When we use wood, which is often, we use our own trees (gathered by the nature conservationists) and FSC-wood. Which comes from forests that are managed in a responsible and sustainable way.
Water is precious Efficient and clean
Having a lovely shower and clean toilet, everybody wants it... Here we also pay attention to the environment and work in an anti waste manner! Within the sanitary buildings the taps and showerheads are water saving. The lighting works with a motion sensor so the lamps only go on when it's needed. All our cleaningproducts are biologicaly degradable.
Our playgrounds have cool waterpoints to play in, these are not attached to the water network but make use of the groundwater from within the dunes. The water is pumped to the surface and provides kids with hours of sustainable fun!
PWN
From nature, for nature... Look around you! As many as possible is re-used. Together with PWN (Provincial Water company of North-Holland) we have put together a management plan for nature preservation. Reduce, re-use and recycle!
